We offer several benefits and programs to eligible employees to promote the well-being of the members of the HowardCenter community.

Health Insurance

Medical, Dental, FSA »
You are eligible on the first of the month following your date of hire.
Employee cost pro-rated based on number of hours worked.

    You are eligible on the first of the month following your date of hire.

  • Disability
    • Short-Term Disability (66 2/3%)
    • Long-Term Disability (60%)
  • Life Insurance
    • Basic Life Insurance (1x annual salary, up to $100,000)
    • Accidental Death & Dismemberment
    • Additional Life Insurance (cost paid by you)
    • Spouse/Dependent Life Insurance (cost paid by you)
  • Workers’ Compensation: Work related injury/illness (all employees are covered)

  • Retirement
    Employee Contributions and Employer Contributions »
    Eligible on the date of hire (must be at least 21 years of age)

  • Employee Contributions
    • Defined Contribution Plan (Fidelity Investments)

      • Employee may contribute up to 75% of eligible pay before tax
      • (not to exceed annual maximum contributions)
  • Employer Contributions After 1 year of service (at least 1,000 hours worked)
    • HowardCenter Contributes: 5% of your eligible pay
    • If you are contributing, HowardCenter will match with 50% up to the first 6% contributed
    • Six-year Graduated vesting schedule.


  • Work/Life Balance
    Time-Off, Child Care Stipend, etc. »

  • Combined Time Off (CTO): 36 days accrued per year. CTO includes:
    • Scheduled time-off
    • Unscheduled illnesses
    • 11 holidays on which the Agency is closed
    • Accrual rates increase in 4, 5 and after 10 years of service
  • Bereavement Leave:
    • Up to 3 days with pay for death of a family member.
  • Employee Assistance Program:
    • A free and confidential service that helps you and/or your family members address personal problems that may affect your health, family life and/or job performance.
  • License Fee Reimbursement:
    • Reimbursement for the cost of VT State clinical license, roster and/or clinical certification when required by position and relates to the work of the program.
  • Child Care Stipend:
    • You may be eligible to receive a weekly subsidy to help with daycare expenses.
